Assalamualaikum :)
Thanks to my sister, she bought me this inspiring book; on how to become a good and successful medical student written by Prof Dr Muhaya Hj Mohamad. It is not like other motivational books as this is specially written by a famous and respectful writer, more to a holistic approach and big part of it explains how it is related to Islam.
Just to list things that I think it would be helpful and interesting to you medical students out there,
- "Even if the subject is boring, you still have to study and score. You can't change the fact that the subject is offered and graded, but you can change your attitude." (Yup everyday I feel that medic is boring)
- "A hadith states that whenever a person leaves his house with the intention of helping another human being, God will give him the blessing equivalent to someone who performs 'iktikaf' (meditates in the mosque) for a month. So, a doctor who leaves his house to help other people will get the blessing from God all day long, provided he is sincere and does not expect any direct reward from the person that he helps."
- How do I overcome the frustration of studying difficult subjects? "It is important to be sincere in whatever you do. Seeking knowledge is not only for worldly endeavours, but also something to bring to the Hereafter."
Being sincere in whatever you do definitely the key to stay awake in this 5 year journey. Do not ever give up, stay strong and embrace the ups and downs together. InsyaAllah :)
